“You can really make a difference here – because Deka is such a large, diverse company”.

Would I recommend Deka as an employer to my best friend? Yes, definitely. I felt the same way back ten years ago as a student of economics and international management: a friend who had already worked at Deka Immobilien recommended the company to me as an employer. I started here as a student trainee and quickly felt that the chemistry was right for me both personally and professionally: I enjoyed the work right from the start, I grew into the tasks well with the support of my colleagues, and was given increasing responsibility. This is a good indicator for me that my colleagues not only recognise and value my performance at work, but also my personality. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I was offered a permanent position at Deka – and I was delighted to come on board.

Justine Meffert, Head of Institutional Service Business Development Real Assets, joined Deka Immobilien in 2014 as a student trainee in real estate fund management

MY DEKA WAY:

I started in Fund Management in sales support, which forms the interface between Deka Bank Sales and Deka Immobilien Fund Management. As a student trainee, I was given tasks and responsibility right from the start. This showed me that a good working culture, reliable teamwork, loyalty, and appreciation are a living reality in everyday working life at the company. This good feeling, the sense of well-being, the experience of Deka as a reliable employer and, last but not least, the pension scheme via fund savings plans and capital-forming benefits have strengthened my feeling right from the start that I am in the right place and workplace here at the company.

WORK:

I like the company’s openness to new agile ways of working and the flexibility in terms of working hours. This flexible form of personal responsibility enables me to integrate private appointments into my working day. From a professional perspective, I very much appreciate the fact that Deka Immobilien is succeeding in creating growing transparency across all areas and business divisions with various project initiatives. I think it’s good to know that other colleagues may have a similar topic on their desk or are struggling with a similar problem – and that you can then discuss it specifically or work together to find the best strategy or solution. I have experienced a great deal of development in this area in recent years, which is a real asset to everyone in their day-to-day work.

MOVING FORWARD:

If you are committed and want to take responsibility, you can forge your own path here. What has helped me progress are Group-wide programmes and projects that give me the opportunity to immerse myself in other specialist areas and work on “non-specialist” projects. This gives you interesting insights, allows you to make contacts, and use the experience gained to reflect on your own area of work and responsibility – and set the course for further development. I could and can do that here at the company. Since the end of 2023, I have been Group Manager in the Institutional Service Business Development Real Assets department and, together with my team of six, I can continue to grow as a manager with this responsibility, the “daily business”, and all tasks and challenges.
