Peute Group is an international paper and plastics recycling company with a clear vision to reduce CO2 emissions. With their recycling processes, they contribute to a circular economy.

The Peute Group's new headquarters and production site in Alblasserdam, the Netherlands, has an impressive 36,735 square meters of floor space. The XXL distribution center was built on a 60,000 square meter site in the eastern extension of the port of Rotterdam in the established Alblasserdam logistics center right next to the BCTN Rotterdam container terminal and will be officially opened at the end of 2023.

Brownfield development

For the construction of the Peute Group's new headquarters, a site formerly used for industrial purposes was completely redeveloped and given a new lease of life with the construction of a modern building. The revitalization of industrial brownfield sites is a sustainable solution, as no new areas are sealed. The logistics property is already well developed in terms of infrastructure and benefits from its convenient location on the east side of Rotterdam with direct highway access and is connected to the main surrounding ports by water.

CO2 neutral XXL logistics center

Peute transports the containers by barge via the directly connected BCTN terminal. This saves 250 to 300 truck journeys a day on the road in the region and significantly reduces CO2 emissions. The Peute Group obtains the energy required at the site from the roof. The entire roof area was fitted with 10,670 solar panels by Eneco and put into operation.  The annual output of 2.86 megawatts corresponds to the energy consumption of around 1,650 households.
